About Me
- Joe Whimster
- I'm a vinyl junkie who loves learning about and seeking out old records. I'm a 60's freak, collecting beat, garage, psych, soul and reggae. I'm particularly interested in Scottish releases from the period. From a mid-teen obsession with The Nuggets boxset I developed a habit for collecting 60's garage and psyche and in recent years this has developed to include soul, funk, reggae, new wave and pretty much scouring every genre for something that interests me. I was lucky enough to work in the sadly departed Retroblue Records in Aberdeen and helped build The Tunnels nightclub in the city, where I was briefly manager. I also ran the eclectic Gun Club night where I spun my favourite 45s and hosted a variety of great artists from Malcolm Middleton to Ladytron. This blog, should my rudimentary technological skills allow, will let me share some of my favourite records while discovering new ones and hopefully hearing recommendations from you.
